Job Description: How to Apply:
White Sulphur Springs is in search of a dynamic, energetic, and student-centered Special Education Teacher to take over a Pre-K–8 Special Education program for our District.  This is a unique opportunity for the right individual.  Other duties may or may not be required such as; lunch duty, detention duty, recess duty, class sponsor, etc…  This position would be full time.  The position would begin in August of 2020.

White Sulphur Springs is a wonderful small community located in the heart of Montana.  Approximately 70 miles east of Helena, 85 miles northeast of Bozeman, and 110 miles southeast of Great Falls, White Sulphur Springs affords our residents some of the best outdoor recreation our beautiful state has to offer.  We are also between two wonderful ski hills with Showdown only 30 miles to the north and Bridger Bowl only about 70 miles to the southwest.  We have a staff that works together, and really cares about kids.  Our school population is about 200 kids K-12, and our community shows a great deal of support for public education.  We recently built a brand new K-12 school facility.  Our community is also engaged in an effort to revitalize the town.  We have a thriving main street, and a community that truly cares about each other.  White Sulphur Springs is a great place to raise a family.  We are a family that is eager to welcome our newest member.

Special education teachers typically do the following:

  • Assess student skills
  • Develop teaching plans
  • Adapt lessons to meet student needs
  • Develop IEPs for each student
  • Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student’s ability
  • Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one
  • Implement IEPs, assess performance, and track progress
  • Update IEPs in a timely manner that reflects student progress and goals
  • Discuss student progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
  • Supervise and mentor teacher assistants who work with students with disabilities
  • Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade
  • Follows all laws and requirements pertaining to the position
  • Meets all deadlines as required by law

Applicant must possess a valid Montana teaching license with the appropriate endorsements, or show ability to obtain the appropriate license.
